UPDATE: injured Gibson Co. infant dies at hospital

KENTON, Tenn.– Gibson County Sheriff Paul Thomas confirms a 5-month-old child has died after being critically injured Wednesday.

The infant had to be airlifted to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis. In a text message Sunday evening, Sheriff Thomas said the baby “did pass away early last night.”

Braxton Edwards faces a count of aggravated child abuse in the Wednesday incident in Kenton. Sheriff Thomas said Edwards could be facing additional charges Monday.

No details have been released about the child’s specific injuries at this time or Edwards’ relationship with the child.
