Jackson man dies after weekend pontoon boat wreck
DECATUR COUNTY, Tenn. — A Jackson man has died after being injured Sunday in a pontoon boat wreck on Kentucky Lake in Decatur County.
Nickolas Willhoit, 21, of Jackson died at Vanderbilt Hospital where he had been airlifted after the wreck, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
Officers with the TWRA are investigating the wreck that took place when witnesses say a pontoon boat traveling south near river mile 135 in the Perryville area struck a barge moored to the west bank of the river, according to the TWRA.
All four occupants of the pontoon boat were reported injured, and two were airlifted to Vanderbilt where Willhoit later died.
The other occupants were taken to Decatur County General Hospital.
