Relaxing sounds at Southern Sunday Music Festival in Milan
MILAN, Tenn. — This afternoon people enjoyed the great weather we’ve been having and some good music at Milan city park.
“I love it and I’m glad to be here and I’m glad they’re doing this,” Martha Wise said.
The sound of good music filled Milan City Park for the first Southern Sunday Music Festival.
“Southern Sunday embraces our lifestyle in the south, culture, traditions,” event organizer Gregory Horton said. “So we wanted to try our hand at doing a music fest on Labor Day.”
Southern Sunday featured music from all genres, from country to gospel.
“Listen to the music and I’m really enjoying it, and this is a wonderful day to come out,” Geneva Davis said.
“I love stuff like this…to get me out of the house more often,” Wise said.
Besides sounds of the south, there was also southern BBQ on the menu. Giving folks the opportunity to recharge this weekend.
“Look around sit in the shade, kick back and relax,” Horton said.
“Love to come out and enjoy myself,” Floyd Wise said. “Sit around in a nice cool comfortable evening like this. Have some fun and eat some nachos.”
The event organizer says having such a variety of music, food and a car show was a way to attract people from all walks of life.
“I think its a good thing for the community,” Oteen Elliott said. “Good thing for the children, and everybody come. It think its good for everybody gives good entertainment and relaxation.”
Horton says he hopes the music festival will continue for years to come. Sunday afternoon there was also a ceremony to honor law enforcement, firefighters and members of the military .
