Mendoza snags player of the week

DYERSBURG, Tenn — For week seven’s player of the week, Dyersburg’s Blake Mendoza tallied the most votes.

His breakout performance this past weekend was long overdue said Mendoza, jokingly. He said he told his head coach Bart Stowe right before school Monday that they needed to start the game with a go route and they did just that, but the drive would stall. Later on Mendoza would spark his team with a big time catch over a Milan defender to score the games first points.

“Riley gave me a chance to make a play on the ball, he threw it up and all I seen was that ball right there and I was surprised when I jumped over him and caught it so got a touchdown,” said Mendoza.

Only a junior, Mendoza has plenty of time left to make plays for the Trojans.
