Ballard cruises away with MVP honors

MILAN, Tenn — Milan running back Anthony Ballard ran all over the South Side Hawk defense this past Friday and that earned him week ten’s player of the week. Ballard said it’s a great honor to receive player of the week, but that’s not his long term goal. His long term goal is to win a state title. Something he wasn’t shy about saying.

“We’ve put in a year long of hard work in the weight room, hard work out here, and we’re trying to, you know we’re trying to win a ring, we mean business,” Ballard said.

When not on the football field, Ballard is constantly searching for ways to get better and improve his game. He said he spent a lot of time with his Dad trying to perfect his craft and become a better ball player. He text’s his coaches all the time, his want to be great is there. But he know’s his performance on Friday night’s doesn’t come without the help of the big men up front.

“Yeah not without any of them, you know Jacob is a big part of our line, but we have other lineman that are pretty good too,” Ballard said. “We have Lucas, Ben, Luke, Carson, their all pretty good.”

When it’s all said and done, Ballard has one wish before he graduates Milan High School.

“I want to win state, I just don’t want to go through here and leave without a ring, I want a ring and I believe we’re going to get it,” Ballard said.
