TBI: Former treasurer indicted in East Tenn. church theft case
CAMPBELL COUNTY, Tenn. — A former church treasurer in East Tennessee has been indicted on a theft charge after allegedly stealing money from the church.
Patricia Kitts, 46, is accused of stealing money from Glade Springs Baptist Church in LaFollette, according to a release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
The TBI began investigating the theft of money from the church in January 2015 at the request of the district attorney general.
Kitts served as treasurer at the church from 2012 to 2014.
She was indicted Wednesday by the Campbell County grand jury on a charge of theft over $10,000.
Kitts turned herself in Friday and was booked into the Campbell County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
