The Ned sponsors pumpkin carving contest for all ages

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Ned R. McWherter West Tennessee Cultural Arts Center is sponsoring a pumpkin carving contest for all ages.

In time for the Halloween season, The Ned invites residents to submit their most creative designs to be displayed on Halloween night.

One winner will be selected from each of three age groups, which include ages 5-12, ages 13-17, and ages 18 and up.

You can deliver your carved pumpkin to The Ned, located at 314 East Main Street in downtown Jackson, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday, October 28.

Only one entry will be accepted per person, and pumpkins will not be provided – they must be completed upon arrival. Painting and accessories may be added to enhance the design, but the pumpkin must be carved. Battery-operated lighting should be included as open flames will not be allowed.

Winners will be notified late Friday afternoon, then announced during the Halloween Night performance of “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” at The Ned.

A news release states all entries will be on display in front of The Ned on Halloween night.
