Organizations unite to bring Christmas cheer to Henry Co. children
HENRY CO., Tenn. — An extra special shopping spree is held for local children.
According to information sent to us from the Fraternal Order of Police Tennessee-Kentucky Lake Lodge 17, over 240 children were treated to a shopping trip on Saturday, December 2.
The trip began at the Paris Elementary School where children were teamed with a shopping guide and transported to Wal-Mart for this special opportunity.
Each of the children were given a budget of $100 to spend for Christmas presents. Following the shopping spree children returned to Paris Elementary where they were given a package filled with delicious treats, including fruits, breakfast items and more.
Santa also made an appearance at the school to visit with the children.
In a news release, Fraternal Order of Police President and Retired Chief Chuck Elizondo said, “Henry County has stepped up again and provided generous donations to increase the shopping amount to $100. This year the children could buy a bicycle to take home. We are truly blessed when we have a hundred volunteers step up and help the children of this great community.”
The organizations involved in bringing this amazing experience to the children in Henry County included the following:
- Paris Police Department & Henry County Sheriff’s Department
- First Baptist Church Paris – provided transportation
- Henry County Rescue Squad – provided transportation
- Henry County High School DECA & Criminal Justice Classes
- Henry County School Guidance Counselors
- Henry County School Resource Officers
- Wal-Mart in Paris – supplied goody bags for every child
