VIDEO: Shooting at Selmer gas station kills man, suspect arrested
UPDATE (1/8/24): A shooting at a gas station in Selmer leaves one dead and another in custody.
According to McNairy County Sheriff Guy Buck, 18-year-old Jakobe Hill was arrested and charged with first degree murder following a shooting Friday morning at a convenience store off Peach Street.
Sheriff Buck confirms the victim, identified as Jeffrey Owen, died as a result of his injuries.
Video shared with us by a WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News Tipster shows the suspect approach the victim near the gas pumps, and he appears to forcibly remove the victim’s hat. The victim then approaches the suspect, who appears to fire a shot at close range, striking the victim.
Video shows the suspect leave the scene in a light colored sedan.
According to booking information, Hill was booked into the McNairy County Jail around 5 p.m. on Friday, with no bond set. According to court staff, Hill is expected to be arraigned on Monday.

SELMER, Tenn. — Selmer shooting leaves one dead.
A shooting occurred Friday morning in Selmer leaving one person dead.
According to Sheriff Guy Buck, the shooting occurred at 906 Peach Street in Selmer.
The shooting victim has been identified as Jeffrey Owen.
Sheriff Buck also says one suspect, 18-year-old Jakobe Hill of Selmer is in custody. He is charged with First Degree Murder.
Authorities stated this is an ongoing investigation.
