Hub City Flea Market returns to Jackson Fairgrounds

JACKSON, Tenn. — The excitement begins this weekend at the Jackson Fairgrounds and residents are sure to snag a deal.

Although the date had to be moved to make room for the fair, the Hub City Flea Market is prepared for you to catch all of their bargains.

Jerry Windham, the owner of the flea market said the event will begin on Friday, August 30 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

“Saturday, it’ll be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., so it’s a long day, but it gives people time to come and go as you please. Then on Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It kinda starts a little late. By 10, the crowd really starts picking up and then by 2-2:30-3, they’re starting to go home,” said Windham.

He understands that people drive in from other places to shop, especially with 50% of the vendors being natives of Jackson. Items such as shoes, jewelry and purses will be available to purchase over the weekend.

“Now you’re talking about Alamo, Dyer, Dyersburg, Bells, Henderson, Humboldt and Milan. All of those towns. It’s amazing to me how all of these communities all come to Jackson for their hub. And that’s why we called it Hub City,” said Windham.

He told us that people usually focus on bigger shopping outlets such as Walmart and Kroger, but he would like for residents to take advantage of the markets bargains.

“It’s a lot of what’s out there these days. Post-Covid, big box rules and we’re trying to break that up because really at the end of the day, it’s your friends and neighbors that rule,” said Windham.

The “J’s” as he calls it, January, June and July are usually the hardest times to sell items, but the market still beats his expectations every time.

“We’ve seen crowds even up to 14,000, 15,000 over a 3 day period, which is really good,” said Windham.

Windham says they are still looking for vendors to participate in the flea market this weekend.
