Tunnel to Towers Foundation pays off family’s mortgage in Scotts Hill
SCOTTS HILL, Tenn. — The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is honored to announce that it has paid off the mortgage on the Scotts Hill home of fallen army sergeant Brendan J. Scallon as part of the 2024 Season of Hope.
Following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, Sgt. Brendan J. Scallon knew his duty was to defend his country. He was known for loving three things: God, his family, and his country. Sgt. Scallon would serve three tours in Iraq and passed away on in 2015 due to injuries he sustained after an improvised explosive device detonated.
Sgt. Scallon is survived by his wife Leronica and their three children, Patrick, Patience and Patrick.
“This year, we’re paying off 40 mortgages. We’re providing mortgage free homes across the country from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve and this is our 6th annual Season of Hope,” said John Huvane, retired detective for the New York Police Department.
Tunnel to Towers paid off the mortgage on the small farm Leronica purchased and she has created a special area called ‘Soldier’s Sanctuary’. This peaceful space, dedicated to Sgt. Scallon’s memory, features a medicinal garden where visitors can reflect on the sacrifices of those who gave their lives in service to their country.
