‘Illegal substance’ distributed by student at Jackson middle school

JACKSON, Tenn. — A local school issues a response after an illegal substance was located on campus.

Multiple WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News Tipsters reached out to inform us of an incident involving possible THC-infused snacks at Northeast Middle School in Jackson.

We heard from a resident related to a student involved, who shared that the situation took place at the school last week.

We reached out to the Jackson-Madison County School System for more information, who declined to confirm any details.

However, we obtained a letter sent to Northeast Middle School families from Principal Kimberly Quinn.

The letter states:

Dear Northeast Middle School Families,

I want to take a moment to address a recent incident involving a Northeast student sharing an illegal controlled substance on campus. Following a thorough investigation in partnership with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, I have applied penalties consistent with the district’s Code of Conduct. In addition to suspensions, discussions have been held with their parents.

This situation serves as an important reminder to speak with your children about the dangers of consuming unmarked products or items intended for adult use. These conversations are vital to ensuring their health, safety, and well-being.

As always, the safety of our students remains our top priority. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you for your partnership and support.
