Community rallies together to help one of its own

LEXINGTON, Tenn.—A community rallies together to offer support for a special individual battling cancer.

A fundraising event was held Saturday in Lexington for Alan Jones who is currently battling stage IV esophageal cancer.

Jones is an incredible asset to the Lexington community serving as the high school’s Band Director and Beta Club Sponsor for the past six years.

The event took place from 3 in the afternoon and continued until 7 in the evening.

Activities throughout the fundraiser include dinner, live music, as well as a live auction.

“Alan Jones, who is our band director and also a co-sponsor for the Beta Club, he was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer back in October. And we’re just trying to raise a little money to help him and his family alleviate a little bit of the financial stress that goes along with battling cancer,” said Nicki Johnson, Beta Sponsor at Lexington High School.

Tickets for the event are $10 for musical performances and $10 for dinner.

Proceeds from the event will assist Jones in paying for medical expenses.
