The Thaxton family celebrates 20 years of “Treasure’s Love Bears”

JACKSON, Tenn.–One family continues its efforts to share love with families on this special day, Valentine’s Day.

The Thaxtons have given teddy bears to families in the NICU at Jackson-Madison county General hospital for 20 years.

“When she (Treasure) was born she was so small we couldn’t hold her. So we held teddy bears just to replicate her. We know how difficult it is when you’re in the hospital with a sick child. We just started paying it forward,” Gregory Thaxton, CEO of Treasure’s Love Bears, shares.

For the past 20 years the Thaxton family has given Valentine’s Day joy to parents whose children are in the NICU here at Jackson-Madison County  General Hospital.

“It feels good to know that even after all these that I am still continuing to do it and people are still giving. I just want to thank everybody and I want to thank god for allowing people and blessing people to continue to donate and thank you for the future donors,” said Treasure Thaxton, of Treasure’s Love Bears.

For the Thaxtons, this is a labor of love with tons of support and donations from family, friends, and church members this opportunity has been able to help their cause flourish.

“We have several families that reach out to us on Treasure’s Love Bears on Facebook just to thank you for paying it forward. Several families have started their own missions. We’ve even had a young girl that we gave to 15 years ago that was here at Jackson General and she became a nurse just because she received a bear,”  Teirra Thaxton, CEO of Treasure’s Love Bears, shares.

To celebrate 20 years, they decided to get bigger bears and t-shirts. These t-shirts are ‘Grow with Me’ t-shirts for the children who are in the NICU.

“We loved it and we found out that she loved it and her loving other people can change this world, one person at a time. That’s just what it is for us, our whole story is we could not have kids for 10 years. After 10 years God blessed us with kids and we wanted them to be the best kids, the most loveable kids, the kids that would change the world. That’s our goal and that’s the reason we continue it, even up to 20 years,” said Gregory Thaxton.

The Thaxtons say their goal is to continue this legacy once Treasure is ready to take it on and also thank everyone who donates each year to Treasure’s Love Bears.
