One local class buzzes with info about bees

JACKSON, Tenn.—If you have ever considered BEE—ing a bee parent, this class is for you.

A beekeeping class was held in Jackson Saturday from 9 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon.

The class was available at the Madison County Agricultural Complex located at 311 North Parkway.

The class gives those considering beekeeping as a trade or hobby all the information needed to get started.

Speakers and bee professionals were on hand to share important facts like bee behavior, what equipment is needed, and how to harvest honey.

There were also door prizes and a raffle for bee equipment.

“You can put as much work into beekeeping as you want to, but you can also be as laid back as you want to. As long as you take care of your bees, make sure they’re healthy, and just enjoy the benefits of bees
all together,” said Greg Woods, President of the Jackson Area Beekeepers Association.

Tickets were $15 for a single admission and $20 for a family pass and also included a one year membership to the Jackson Area Beekeepers Association.
