Auditions to be held for ‘Chicago: Teen Edition’ in Jackson

Lights Up! Theatre Co. Announces Auditions and Workshop for Chicago: Teen Edition
Jackson, TN – June 4, 2025 — Lights Up! Theatre Co. is pleased to announce open auditions for its upcoming fall production of Chicago: Teen Edition. Auditions are open to rising 6th through 12th grade students and will be held on June 28 and 29 at 2:00 PM, with callbacks scheduled for June 29 at 6:00 PM. All auditions will take place at the Lights Up! Theatre Co. Space, located at 1421 N Highland Avenue, Jackson, TN.
Students auditioning should prepare 60 seconds of a musical theatre song from Chicago, dress for movement for the dance portion, and be ready for cold readings from the script. A dance combination will also be taught; choreography videos will be made available two weeks prior to auditions for those wishing to prepare in advance.

Students interested in auditioning—or simply wanting to improve their performance skills—are also invited to attend the Chicago: Teen Edition Audition Workshop on Saturday, June 14 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the same location. This preparatory workshop is open to all rising 6th–12th grade students regardless of audition plans. The cost to attend is $10 per student.
The workshop will cover the fundamentals of musical theatre auditions, including vocal preparation, cold reading techniques, and a preview of the show’s dance choreography. This is a valuable opportunity for students to build confidence and gain insight into the casting process.
