Delta Sigma Theta Sorority donates to the Dream Center
JACKSON, Tenn.—A local sorority works to provide the Dream Center with some needed supplies for its residents.
The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority gathered hair products to help African-American women at the center.
Sorority members recognize the importance of hair care and the unique needs that African-American women may require.
One’s confidence can be greatly affected by appearances and hair can have a big impact on how a young lady sees herself.
Scott Thorson, a counselor for Dream Center was present Saturday to collect the donations at the Delta Center located at 96 Oneal Street in Jackson.
Those supplies will be kept on hand and supplied to young women and children when needed.
“Every year we have our chapter retreat, when we come back together to prepare for our chapter programming for the year. Everyone that came donated something. So, we gave them two large containers full of hair care products that are really focused in for young black women as well as children,” said Tamesha Murphy, Alumni VP, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
Part of the Dream Center’s mission is to help residents with resumes, finding employment, and preparing them for future success.
