JACKSON, Tenn. — Following the demolition of the Allenton Heights Housing Complex earlier this year, JHA makes way for new housing that’s moving onto the property soon.

It’s out with the old and in with the new shaping the quality of life for the local community.
The Jackson Housing Authority and partnering agencies break ground on BlueCreek Townhomes set open late May of 2026.

The is a section 8 property that will serve four families at a time with a rotating waiting list allotting families to stay up to five years. The purpose of the program is about upward mobility leading to independence.
Once families are stable, JHA provides a program that assists with the next steps of home ownership.
The project is financed through several grants with the Tennessee Housing Development agency.
This initiative is a modern approach that is still affordable and income based.
“It’s going to be a different look to affordable housing which we do welcome but it’s going to fit well in this community. You see a lot of development going on and I think the families that live here will be proud to live here,” said Mark Reid, executive director for the Jackson Housing Authority.
Many city officials invite local organizations to contribute to the growth and development happening in east Jackson.
