The Salvation Army of Jackson invites community to ‘Give with Joy’ this Giving Tuesday

THE FOLLOWING IS A PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SALVATION ARMY OF JACKSON:

The Salvation Army of Jackson Invites Community to “Give with Joy” This Giving Tuesday

Jackson, TN — The Salvation Army of Jackson is calling on generous hearts across the community to make a difference this Giving Tuesday, taking place on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. This global day of generosity, following the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, encourages individuals, families, and businesses to give back to causes that strengthen their communities.

Giving Tuesday began in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over time, it has evolved into a worldwide movement of generosity that inspires millions to give, collaborate, and celebrate kindness.

Last year, The Salvation Army of Jackson provided:
• 5,160 food boxes
• 1,008 meals to individuals and families
• 3,454 clothing items
• 3,585 Christmas gifts for children and seniors

This year, philanthropic giving is down significantly, while the need—and the cost to help—continues to rise. The Salvation Army is urging the community to Give with Joy this Giving Tuesday, inspired by the scripture 2 Corinthians 9:7: “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

There are several ways to support The Salvation Army on Giving Tuesday:

Ways to Give:
• Online: Visit www.SalvationArmyJacksonTN.org to make a secure online gift.
• At a Red Kettle: Drop a donation at any local Salvation Army Red Kettle location.
• By Mail: Send a check to The Salvation Army at PO Box 486, Jackson, TN 38302.
• Volunteer: Sign up for a volunteer shift at a Red Kettle or service center at www.registertoring.com.
• Corporate/Group Giving: Local businesses, churches, and organizations can sponsor a kettle, host an Angel Tree, or match gifts.

“Giving Tuesday is about more than making a donation—it’s about bringing hope,” said Captain Will Richardson, Corps Officer of The Salvation Army of Jackson. “Whether people give online, at a Red Kettle, or by mailing a check, every gift stays right here in West Tennessee to help provide food, shelter, emergency assistance, and support to our neighbors in need. We are deeply grateful for the generosity of this community.”

All donations to The Salvation Army remain in the local community to support essential services, including food, shelter, emergency financial aid, Christmas assistance, and programs that strengthen individuals and families.

We thank the community for consistently stepping up with compassion, especially during the Christmas season and on Giving Tuesday. Together, we can bring joy and hope to those who need it most.
