Brian Wilson announces candidacy for Madison County Commissioner

PRESS RELEASE FROM BRIAN WILSON:

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Brian Wilson is announcing he will be a candidate for Madison County Commissioner-District 6 in the upcoming May 5, 2026 Madison County Republican Primary.

Wilson was born in Madison County and is a lifelong resident of the current District 6. He was educated in Madison County Schools, having attended Malesus Elementary, South Side Junior High, graduating from South Side High School.

He has over 760 hours of training specializing in county government through University of Tennessee County Technical Assistance Programs. Wilson holds designations as Certified Public Administrator and Certified County Administrative Professional. He is a Certified County Finance Officer through the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury.

Wilson is a Christian Conservative Republican. He is a member of Malesus Baptist Church where over the years he has served as Assistant Treasurer, member of the Safety Team, Stewardship Committee and Usher.

Brian and his wife Debbie live on the 176 acre farm at Medon which has been in his family for three generations. They have an adult son Logan and an adult daughter Keelie.

Wilson began his service to Madison County as a Volunteer with the Madison County Fire Department while in his teens. During approx. 17 years with the fire department he served as the Lieutenant at Station 9 as well as a relief dispatcher. He completed Tennessee Commission on Firefighting training as a Firefighter III and Fire Department Instructor I.

Following work at Construction Products, Inc. and Williams Steel Co., in 1990 Wilson was hired by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department where he worked until his retirement in 2020. During his 30 years with the Sheriff’s Office he served as a Jailer, Patrol Deputy, Criminal Investigator, Patrol Shift Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Warden of the Madison County Penal Farm and retired as Assistant Jail Administrator. He received training at the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Criminal Investigation School and through Tennessee Corrections Institute.

Other specialized schools included US Dept. of Justice Community Oriented Policing, Burglary and Robbery Investigation, Arson Investigation, Incident Management, Incident Command and Instructor Development. Wilson has also served on the Madison County Law Enforcement/Public Safety Committee and is a past president of the Madison County Deputy Sheriff’s Association. He has received commendations from the FBI, Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Jackson Police Department. Wilson was honored as a Jackson Jaycees Outstanding Young Firefighter of the Year (1988) and has received the Kiwanis Distinguished Service in Law Enforcement Award (1994).

Later in 2020, he returned to full time service with the Madison County Highway Department as Office Manager, where he is currently employed. Wilson’s work with the highway department involves attending various county committee and commission meetings. He assists the highway superintendent in matters related to personnel, payroll, purchasing, budgeting and grant projects.

I know first hand what it takes to make county government work, from daytime offices to the 24/7 and on-call operations. I have been accountable for managing county personnel, property, prisoners and millions of your tax dollars. With 35+ years training and experience in county government I would like to ask the citizens of District 6 for your vote in the May 5, 2026 Republican Primary. I would be honored for the opportunity to serve as your County Commissioner.”
John Hicks will serve as Wilson’s Political Treasurer.

District 6 Polling Places- Medon City Hall, Malesus Community Center, Meridian Baptist Church (South Side) and Madison Co. Fire Station #13 (Pinson).
