What’s New Wednesday: Vivio Counseling

JACKSON, Tenn. — Vivio Counseling opened inside The Idea Factory in downtown Jackson this past August.

Owner Caleb Vivio is a licensed professional counselor and mental health service provider, specializing in two main areas of focus.

“One of those is depression and anxiety that has taken a long time to find treatment for,” said owner Caleb Vivio. “So you can call this like treatment-resistant depression and anxiety. These are clients who have been in therapy for years, and have had success, but then fallen back, and success, and fallen back.”

Another key service at the private practice is mindfulness-based work, aiming to help others better accept their circumstances.

Vivio says much of his experience is in dealing with complex issues, such as childhood trauma, and working with marginalized communities and those who feel isolated.

He says he was inspired to become a therapist after seeking therapy himself when he was younger, and has now been working in the field for around eight years.

“I’m a big believer that everyone has locked within them the ability to become the version of themselves they want to become, they just need the right environment,” said Vivio.

Vivio says that above all, his main goal is to ensure that his clients feel safe with him and comfortable in his space.

“I want to avoid feeling clinical, right? I feel like there’s a place for that, but for the clients that I serve, I really strive for a peaceful, homey, safe and comforting environment,” he said.

And that commitment extends to one aspect that Vivio says makes his services stand out locally.

“So one of the things about Vivio Counseling that I think really makes it unique, is that it’s a member of what’s called the Safe Space Alliance. So the Safe Space Alliance is an international organization committed to creating safe spaces for the queer and trans community, so the LGBT+ community.”

The practice operates on a private pay-only basis, which Vivio says allows him to operate without outside parties determining what therapy should look like.

And though he thrives on in-person meetings, he also offers telehealth services available to anyone in the state of Tennessee.

Vivio Counseling is located at 106 South Liberty Street, Suite 14, in Jackson.
