Disturbance call leads to use of force and additional charges in Alamo
PRESS RELEASE FROM THE CROCKETT COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT:
ALAMO, TENN. — On Monday, March 2, 2026, at approximately 10:22 PM, the Crockett County Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting adults and children fighting near the 200 block of South Bells Street in Alamo, Tennessee. Alamo Police Department officer was already on scene when deputies from the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office arrived.
Upon arrival, officers encountered a female who was being disorderly. Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation; however, the female failed to comply with lawful orders. A physical altercation ensued during which multiple officers were assaulted by the suspect as they attempted to take the female into custody using a soft-handed approach due to her being a female.
As a result, the female was able to break free from officers and no hard strikes were observed on body cam or reported.
For reasons that remain under investigation, officers deployed a Taser in an effort to prevent her from fleeing. It was clear on the body cam that the Taser deployment was not effective in gaining control of the suspect.
The scene remained volatile due to the presence of two males – one with an extensive criminal history. Primary officers stayed on the scene due to officer safety and when additional back-up officers from Bells and Gadsden Police Departments arrived to assist – a search of the area was conducted.
Officers from four agencies assisted and officers searched for the female, both out of concern for her well-being and due to offenses committed during the incident, including disorderly conduct, assault on an officer (Class E Felony) and resisting arrest. Deputies involved remained on duty in full capacity as law enforcement officers and retaliatory threats against officers are always investigated.
REGARDING USE OF FORCE & ONGOING REVIEW
Any time officers use force to facilitate – or in this case, attempt to facilitate – an arrest, a use of force report is completed and reviewed by Internal Affairs and, in some cases, the District Attorney’s Office. This incident is currently under review by both Internal Affairs and the District Attorney. As such, no body camera footage, recordings, radio traffic, or other investigative materials will be released until the review has concluded.
