JACKSON, Tenn. — The Better Business Bureau is warning of a new scam. Beware of unsolicited job offers.

Scammers are using Whats-app, a popular free messaging app used worldwide, to send fake job offers that promise high pay for remote work. Scammers are sending texts on WhatsApp offering a remote job that pays hundreds of dollars a day for easy tasks.

Sometimes the scam starts as an unsolicited text message; if you reply, they try to move the conversation to WhatsApp.

“We expect this to be the scam of the summer, you know, as the price of gas continues to go up, we find that more and more people are looking for part-time work.” said Daniel Irwin, spokesperson for the Better Business Bureau.

The BBB warns you not to click on links or respond to unexpected job offers.

You should also verify any job opportunities by contacting the company directly through a known, official channel.
