City of Martin Fire, Rescue respond to structure fire with trapped occupant
PRESS RELEASE FROM CITY OF MARTIN FIRE/RESCUE/EMS DEPARTMENT:
MARTIN, Tenn. — On April 17, 2026, the City of Martin Fire/Rescue Department responded toa reported structure fire with a possible occupant trapped on Olive Street.
Upon arrival, responders observed a two-story residential structure with half of the home fully involved in the fire. Heavy smoke was visible from all windows. Bystanders advised personnel of an occupant trapped at the second-floor window.
Ladder 1 personnel immediately deployed ground ladders to the side and accessed the second-floor window, where they successfully rescued the occupant. The patient was transported to the Volunteer Community Hospital for treatment.
During the rescue, the fire extended through the roofline. The fire took approximately three hours to be brought under control.
Following extinguishment, fire investigators, along with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation were requested to assist in determining the cause and origin of the fire. This is an ongoing investigation.
