Scotts Hill ambulance service aims to cut emergency response times

HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — A dedicated ambulance is now based in Scotts Hill for the first time, a move expected to cut down on response times for people in southern Henderson and Decatur counties.

Ambulance Services of Lexington has placed an ambulance at the Scotts Hill Fire Department on Highway 114. The goal is to get help to people faster in areas that often wait longer for help to arrive.

“Lives are going to be saved, because time is of the essence in the southern end of the counties, and when it takes so long to get an ambulance to the patients and then back to the definitive care, especially with hearts, strokes, trauma, time is of the essence,” CEO & EMS Director for Lexington Ambulance Services Glynn Mooney said.

Kyle Kopec, board member for Lexington Ambulance Services, said getting there sooner can change the outcome when every second counts.

“At 45 minutes into a heart attack, or stroke, or major trauma, the ability to really help that patient is diminished significantly so we are thrilled to cut that response time to five minutes or less,” Kopec said.

The additional ambulance required no resources from other counties and was funded without local county taxes.
