Storms cause power outages for more than 1,700 Gibson Electric customers
JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) – Many Gibson Electric Membership Corporation (GEMC) customers are experiencing power outages due to the ongoing severe weather threat.
Afternoon storms caused outages for 1,716 Gibson Electric Membership Corporation customers’ homes and businesses, said Rita Alexander, vice president of human resources and member services.
The largest outage is in Crockett County, affecting 1,371 customers, Alexander said. Another outage is affecting 302 customers in Hickman County, Kentucky. An outage is affecting 42 customers in Gibson County and a single outage in north Madison County.
According to GEMC, crews have been dispatched and will restore service as quickly as is safely possible.
Customers are advised to stay far away from downed lines as they may be energized and extremely dangerous. GEMC also says it will provide updates as progress is made.
