Veterans recognized, honored for service, sacrifice
JACKSON, Tenn.-More than 100 West Tennesseans came out to the Carl Perkins Civic Center for a evening celebration for Veterans Day. The theme was “Celebrating Our Veterans”, as service members from World War II to current operations in Iraq and Afghanistan took part in the evening, sharing stories of their service. The event was organized by the West Tennessee Veterans Committee. “We are losing our Korean veterans. we are losing the World War II veterans and we are going to lose the others. We just can’t afford as a nation to lose patriotism and the spirit and we need to thank our people,” said Marty Clements, with the West Tennessee Veterans Committee. This was the third year for the event.
