Goodwill asks for donations after winter weather takes toll
JACKSON, Tenn. — Leaders with Goodwill say the recent winter storm has put a chill on donations to area stores.
Donations for January have so far declined by 14 percent compared to last year, according to a Goodwill release, and the organization is asking residents to come out and donate to help them out of the slump.
“We are hoping our generous donors will help us make up for those lost days now,” Scott Crites, Goodwill’s director of donations, states in the release.
The sale of donated items funds their mission of providing education, training and employment opportunities to people across 48 Tennessee counties, according to the release.
Sales at the stores also were affected by the winter storm, as many customers were snowed in.
You can help by donating gently used clothing, shoes, household goods and accessories as well as by shopping in Goodwill’s stores. The locations and hours of Goodwill’s 75-plus Donations Express Centers and 36 stores can be found at giveit2goodwill.org.
