Police Bust Large Shoplifting Operation

BROWNSVILLE, Tenn, – A trio behind an alleged shoplifting ring is behind bars in Haywood County after hundreds of items were recovered by police. Brownsville officers said the three admitted they left from Memphis and hit every Dollar General and Family Dollar store along Highway 51 then all the way over to Brownsville. An employee of the Dollar General in Brownsville reported seeing the group stealing items and called police. Officers found Owanda Tunstall, Romastine Livingston, and Santana Paige of Memphis before they left town and placed them under arrest. They also found 13 trash bags full of items including toiletries and cleaning products in their vehicle. “That’s dishonest, anyway. You shouldn’t steal from anybody if you don’t want nobody to steal from you,” said shopper Maude Pugh. The three remain in Haywood County jail charged with theft over $1,000 and are being held without bond.
