Weather Update – 11:00 p.m. Tuesday
Showers and thunderstorms will remain isolated in West Tennessee tonight before drier conditions take over. Temperatures will only drop to the lower to middle 60s by Wednesday morning. We’re going to be monitoring the conditions out to our west carefully tonight as the next round of showers and thunderstorms on the way moves east from the Central Plains into the Mid-South.
WEDNESDAY
Wednesday’s forecast depends a lot on the showers and severe thunderstorms out to our west and how they behave as they move into Arkansas overnight. Computer models are in disagreement about whether the storms will survive the trip across Arkansas. Some say they will, giving West Tennessee a wet Wednesday morning with a chance for scattered thunderstorms. This would help stabilize the atmosphere to an extent and could keep most thunderstorms that develop Wednesday afternoon from becoming severe. The alternative is that the storms won’t survive the overnight trip across Arkansas and we ultimately see a better chance for severe thunderstorms in West Tennessee during the afternoon and evening. Ultimately, we’re looking at a slight risk for severe weather across all of West Tennessee tomorrow, so prepare for severe weather just in case.

Of the threats that we could see, damaging winds and large hail would be the main concerns Wednesday afternoon and evening but an isolated tornado would also be possible.
REST OF THE WEEK
As the cold front pushes into West Tennessee between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, drier air will move in bringing clearer skies Thursday and Friday as well as drier conditions. The front will move back into West Tennessee Friday night returning showers and thunderstorms to the area. We’ll be monitoring the threat for severe weather on Saturday and Sunday closely but right now it’s too far out to tell what will happen.
