Weather Update – 10:30 p.m. Thursday

Clear skies and light winds are forecast for West Tennessee tonight. Don’t expect the ground to be as “dewy” tomorrow morning with drier air in place but it will be cooler! Temperatures will drop into the middle and upper 50s by Friday morning. Unfortunately, the front that moved through West Tennessee last night will be moving back into our region tomorrow bringing showers and thunderstorms Friday through Sunday.

FRIDAY
Though skies may start out mainly clear to partly cloudy at sunrise Friday at 6:07 a.m., clouds will increase as we go throughout the day – especially during the afternoon and evening. After noon, scattered showers and thunderstorms will move into West Tennessee. If storms can tap into some unstable air tomorrow, it’s possible that one or two of these storms become strong with heavy rain and frequent lightning but the risk for severe weather is low. Temperatures will peak in the upper 70s to lower 80s Friday afternoon.

THIS WEEKEND
As the front moves back into the region, showers and thunderstorms will become more numerous Friday night and Saturday. Rain could be heavy at times with pockets of strong to severe thunderstorms on Saturday, but once again the risk for severe weather is low. We’re currently looking at a marginal risk (1 out of 5) for severe weather in West Tennessee. At least 1″ of rain will be possible this weekend until the front leaves us for good on Sunday but some places that see the most activity could get 2″ or more.
