Dangerously Hot Weather Ahead

Weather Update – 10:30 p.m. Friday
Temperatures will be a bit more mild tonight than they were last night with overnight lows in the lower to middle 60s. Skies will remain mostly clear with calm winds. Temperatures could easily feel like they’re near or over 100°F on Sunday when the humidity becomes unbearable!
THIS WEEKEND
Temperatures will be even hotter this weekend with highs in the lower to middle 90s. Dew points in the middle to upper 60s and lower 70s will make temperatures feel like they’re in the middle and upper 90s to lower 100s during the warmest hours of the day. Skies will be mostly sunny this weekend with a UV index of 10 meaning it could take as little as 15 minutes to get a sunburn if you’re not applying the sunscreen so keep that handy!
There’s a 10% chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm in southwest Tennessee on Saturday afternoon – most areas should remain dry. However, as high pressure breaks down heading through the weekend into early next week, our chance for rain will increase. We’ll have a 20% chance for a scattered shower or thunderstorm anywhere in West Tennessee on Sunday. Locally heavy rainfall and occasional lightning would be the main concerns as the overall risk for severe weather would be low.
NEXT WEEK
As high pressure breaks down even further, the chance for rain will continue to increase through the week. Our weather will remain humid with high temperatures in the upper 80s to the lower 90s. Some days, we may not reach 90°F if a shower gets to us first. Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible, especially during the middle of next week.
