HUMBOLDT, Tenn. – Humboldt Police are looking for the person they said attacked and robbed a local pizza delivery driver late Wednesday night. A Humboldt Domino’s Pizza employee was rushed to the hospital after co-workers confirmed he was sent to deliver a pizza to a home he did not know was abandoned. Police said at least two people in masks were waiting for him, who ordered a pit bull to attack. “The driver was attacked by the dog, and beaten by one of the males,” said Assistant Police Chief Bill Baker. Investigators are not releasing the name of the victim, and said they are still looking for those responsible. “We are currently searching for a black male, approximately six feet tall, thin build, dark complexion, wearing dark clothing,” Baker said. Neighbors said it is scary this type of attack happened nearby. “You would always think that your home is the safest place to be, but then outside, you never know what goes on outside,” said neighbor Greta McCurry. Lacey Morris said she and her family just moved on 19th Avenue a week ago, to get away from crime. “It makes me think I just moved from one bad neighborhood to another one,” Morris said. “Just nicer houses over here is about it, I guess.” Now, she said, they will be more cautious at night. “I’m pretty sure the pizza guy didn’t have much, maybe change for a hundred, that’s about it, but I don’t think that’s really worth risking somebody’s freedom and somebody’s life over a hundred dollars,” Morris said. The owner of the Humboldt Domino’s Pizza said the victim has been released from a Memphis hospital and is expected to recover. Police advise pizza delivery drivers to always be aware of their surroundings, and if they see something that does not look right, do not stop.
