Juneteenth Celebration in Jackson

EAST JACKSON, Tenn. – Dozens of West Tennesseans gathered in East Chester Centennial Park to celebrate Juneteenth, Saturday. Live music, barbecue, and the sharing of history and heritage took place on the lawn in the event which was open to the public. Celebrations of Juneteenth ran all day until 8 p.m., and they’ve been going since 1865. Today’s events also included an early morning freedom walk, celebrating the past and coming together for the future.
