Discovery Park Sets Grand Opening Date

OBION COUNTY, Tenn.-The much anticipated date for opening day of a northwest Tennessee park has been set. Officials of Discovery Park of America said they will have an official ribbon cutting and grand opening, November 1. The park has been under construction since 2008 and will feature a discovery center with 10 educational and fun galleries. Also, there will be an earthquake simulator, a starship theater and areas outside to serve as learning tools for visitors. The park anticipates 150,000 visitors per year which will have a huge economic impact on the area. One of the main attractions of Discovery Park will be a train station with an engine and cars in tow and some of them arrived Wednesday afternoon. The engine is waiting at the industrial park for now. Next week, cranes will arrive that will move the engine and cars onto the tracks at the park.
