Rash of Vehicle Burglaries Hit North Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn- The hum of lawn mowers and the occasional car is all Peggy Shaw said she typically hears in her neighborhood; but says even her quiet community is a target for crime. “I just want people to respect that we live here,” said Shaw. Police said on Wednesday night, at least six vehicles around Country Club Lane and Windemere Circle were broken into. From cash to computers, neighbors reported valuables missing. “We probably think nothing is going to happen but we have to know things will happen, even here,” said Shaw. While some of the victim’s doors were locked, others were not. And police said items were left in plain view. Although Shaw’s car was not broken into, many of her neighbors were not so lucky. “I don’t want to tempt people by leaving my house or car unlocked or something of that nature,” said Shaw. No arrests have been made. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Jackson Police at (731) 425-8400 or Crime Stoppers at (731) 424-TIPS.
