AAA Makes Independence Day Travel Predictions

JACKSON, Tenn.- The Fourth of July is exactly two weeks away and though millions of Americans will get away, the projections are actually down from last year. AAA estimates nearly 41 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home between July 3 and July 7. That is down nearly 300,000 from last year. AAA said the shorter holiday weekend this year could be to blame. Independence Day falls on a Thursday this year, meaning a four-day weekend, down from last year’s five days. According to a AAA survey nearly 724,000 Tennesseans are projected to get to their destination by car this Fourth of July, with a total of 786.000 Tennesseans traveling.
