West TN Veterans Coalition hosts annual Military Ball
JACKSON, Tenn.–A local organization created to assist our nation’s veterans, hosts an event in northwest Jackson.
The West Tennessee Veterans Coalition hosted a Military Ball at the Madison Downs venue Thursday evening.
Larry Newsom, team leader of the Military Ball, says they tried to incorporate the events that all military branches would have at a ball.
Some of these include, a traditional toast, a grog bowl, and a cake cutting with the oldest and youngest attendees being recognized.
This ball included active and retired veterans, such as Vietnam veterans and members of the Tennessee National Guard. Newsom tells us more about how their organization helps veterans.
“We deal with the events that are immediate. Like if you need groceries, you need your power turned back on, you need some temporary rent money. That’s what we address, and we can do it pretty expeditiously,” said Newsom.
Newsom says this event was paid for entirely by donations to the West Tennessee Veterans Coalition.
