GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has released additional details on a shooting that occurred in Gibson County.

The TBI reports that around 11:45 a.m. on Eldad Road in Trenton, deputies with the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office were conducting a probation check on a home.

While inside, the TBI stated that deputies saw suspected illicit drugs, withdrew from the home to get a search warrant, and then noticed a building behind the house.

The TBI stated that the deputies attempted to secure the building, and encountered an armed individual.

For reasons that are under investigation, the situation escalated and resulted in shots fired, leaving a deputy and the suspected shooter with gunshot wounds, the news release states.

The two were taken to the hospital by medical helicopter, the TBI reports.

The TBI says that their agents are working to independently determine the series of events leading to the shooting, including collecting evidence and conducting interviews.

GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed there was an officer-involved shooting.

In a news release, deputies were serving a search warrant when they were involved in an officer-involved shooting.

They say that Deputy Joshua Johnson, a seven year veteran, received non-life-threatening injuries, but is expected to make a full recovery.

The shooting took place in the 100 block of Eldad Road in Trenton.

The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office says that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating.
