Area Leaders Discuss Workforce Development Strategies

JACKSON, Tenn. – West Tennessee business owners and leaders came together, Thursday to brainstorm on how to develop workers with the skills needed to work in manufacturing. From Cradle to Career: A Regional Collaboration for Workforce Development Strategies was the theme of the meeting. Community members from McNairy and Hardeman County participated in the event. Johnathan Lee, HR manager at Monogram Refrigeration in Selmer said its important to include everyone in West Tennessee. “This is really a coordinated effort its got to involve the private sector, the public schools, the Tennessee Tech Centers. Everyone has got to come together and decide what we need to do to improve our workforce,” said Lee. About 80 people attended Thursday’s conference on the campus of Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
