Ky police find bomb at home, search for parts
LAFAYETTE, Ky. (AP) – Investigators in southwestern Kentucky were searching for several parts of a pipe bomb that didn’t detonate after being shot by a gun by deputies.
The parts were in a field in LaFayette on the Kentucky-Tennessee state line. Christian County Sheriff’s deputies and the Fort Campbell bomb squad tried to destroy the pipe bomb Monday after receiving a call from a resident that it had been brought into a house.
Christian County Emergency Management Director Randy Graham told the Kentucky New Era (http://bit.ly/1akqjZl ) the bomb squad then used a robot to carry the device to an open field and attempted to detonate it by shooting it with a gun.
Graham says the device broke up and investigators will continue to look for the pieces because they could be dangerous.
