JACKSON, Tenn.–Developers built more than 100 new apartments and a new gym in Jackson. The new facilities bring more people downtown. “We are seeing new faces, a lot of new faces,” said Jennifer Duncan, a server at The Baker‘s Rack. Duncan‘s restaurant sits less than a mile from the new construction. “Normally we slow down this time of year, but business has been kind of steady,” she said. The new facilities could bring new customers. “I have noticed a big change in the business,” said Duncan. “It’s been a lot better.” The West Tennessee Farmer‘s Market runs adjacent to the Jackson Walk Apartments. “We’re here Wednesday through Saturday,” said Alexa Williams, a vender. Williams said she has not noticed a difference in sales. “I guess when more people start coming in to you know, moving in and everything, I’m pretty sure we’d probably see a difference,” she said. Businesses hope the new accommodations bring in more foot traffic. “It’s very positive,” said Duncan. “I like it. I like seeing new faces.” The Jackson Walk Apartments should be finished in September. Rock ‘n‘ Dough Pizza Company is scheduled to open a new location in downtown Jackson this fall.
