HENDERSON, Tenn. – It is the Dog Days of summer and kids from across the country have made their to the Mid-South Youth Camp for a week of fun in the sun. Every summer is special, this year they are celebrating a big milestone in the camp’s history. “Some great men came out here and found this property in 1960, we did some work out here and built some cabins and opened up in 1963 in this spot so we are celebrating 50 years!,” said Frank Bradford, camp director. Bradford said a milestone this big could not have been achieved if it were not for his energetic staff. “I use students from Freed-Hardeman, they come with little pay for hard work, little sleep, and they come out because they love young people,” Bradford said. Bradford has been the camp director since 2004 and said he is looking forward to more great years at the camp. The campers also say they cannot agree more.”I really want to come back next year because everyone is so nice and it’s fun,” said Morgan Murphy. Austin Pierce has been to the camp for four years in a row. “It’s an awesome time here and we get to learn and have fun with our friends!,” he said. “I’ve had a lot of fun because I’ve been fishing and swimming,” said Thomas Wells, a first-time camper.
