CORINTH, Mississippi- On Friday, thousands gathered in Corinth for the annual Slugburger Festival. The burgers, made from soy, pork, and seasonings, originated in the area during the Great Depression; and while they are sold year-round, the festival brings out people from across the Mid-South and even around the world. “We’ve had people from Ireland, Germany, and South America,” said Camille Borrum, owner of Borrum’s Drugstore and Restaurant. “All who wanted to try a slugburger.” Borrum said business is usually good at her restaurant, but during the Slugburger Festival it is on another level. “We sell over 40 pounds a day,” said Borrum, who has been a part of the festival since it started 26 years ago. “This festival did exactly what we wanted it to do,” she said. “It brought people back downtown.” The festival is held from July 11-13, from 6pm to 11 pm, in downtown Corinth.
