Recent surge in scam calls, how to protect your information
JACKSON, Tenn. — The Better Business Bureau wants Madison County residents to be aware of potential scam calls.
In the last two weeks there has been an increase of Federal Trade Commission scam calls.
Some consumers are being told that they have to pay money to get money.
The bureau says that the FTC will never call to ask for money.
The BBB has a tool called Scam Tracker.
Which will help track scammers simply by inputting the information that is used to contact you.
“If you’re getting a call from a phone number and you don’t know how to look it up or Google’s really not giving you any traction from it, go ahead to our scam tracker. You can input that phone number and pretty much anybody that who has reported that scam with that phone number, all of their reports will come up,” said Toddnetta Rice, Better Business Bureau Communication Specialist
Ages 18-24 are the top targeted group who receive scam calls.
