JEA Offices Flooded, Repairs Underway

JACKSON, Tenn.–Water flooded Jackson Energy Authority in downtown Jackson. Monday the utility company closed its office on East College Street because of damage. “Just a little shocking you know, a little bit of a notice would have been nice,” said Maurice Gastelum, a customer. “It’s just an inconvenience at this time.” JEA workers say a water line burst over the weekend. “When our cashiers got in this morning they found water two to three inches deep,” said Vice President of Customer Service Rowland Fisher. The company called in a team to pump out the water. “The lobby, upstairs, even down in our basement, is flooded,” said Fisher. “It’s gonna be several days before we’ll be back open.” People can also visit JEA‘s customer service location at 2030 Pleasant Plains Extended in The Columns. “I’m just glad to know that there’s another location out here in Jackson to where it’s convenient for us to go out and pay our bill,” said Gastelum. Fisher was not sure how much it will cost to fix the mess, but estimated it could be thousands of dollars. Customers can still pay their bills online or call a customer service representative at (731) 422-7500.
