Two dead after fatal shooting in Dyersburg

DYERSBURG, Tenn.—A shooting this afternoon at a local smoke shop leaves two people dead.

A double fatality had onlookers shaking their head in disbelief.

According to the officials with the Dyersburg Police Department, at approximately 3:59 p.m. the Dyersburg Police Department responded to a double fatality at a local smoke shop.

According to a preliminary report, both victims were killed by gunshot.

One victim was reportedly found outside of the location, while the other victim was found inside the store.

The identities of the victims are not being revealed at this time.

Upon arrival, we saw crime scene tape around the area.

Shattered glass was spotted on the ground from where the shooting occurred.

We also saw emergency medical services on the scene retrieving the bodies.

Family members of one of the victims were spotted on the scene as well.

Dyersburg Police Chief, Thomas Langford, says that this is an ongoing investigation. However, following the preliminary investigation, law enforcement has determined the scene is contained and there is no additional threat to the community.
