Pride Sworn In as Circuit Court Judge

JACKSON, Tenn. – For the first time in history, the 26th Judicial District will have an African-American circuit judge sitting at the bench. Judge Nathan Pride will serve Madison, Henderson, and Chester Counties. “All lawyers endeavor I think in the back of their minds to become judges and my dream wasn’t much different than any young lawyers dream. My road was a little different to get there,” said Pride. More than 100 people including family, friends and county leaders attended the swearing in ceremony. Judge Pride grew up on Berry Street in Lincoln Courts and credits his family and mentors for getting him where he is now. “No Upward Bound, no Nathan Pride…No Lane College, no Nathan,” said Judge Pride. Pride is replacing Judge Roger Page who was recently appointed to the Tennessee Court of Appeals. “Thank you for the vote of confidence in my ability to do this job and please continue to pray and pray hard that the Lord will give me wisdom, strength to endure the task put before me,” said Judge Pride.
