The event will be Saturday, September 7 at the Ballpark at Jackson.

The objective of the stair climb is to honor first responders who lost their lives in response to the September 11, 2001 attacks.

The stair climb will consist of participants ascending approximately 2200 stairs, which is symbolic of the 110 stories ascended by first responders at the world trade center.

There will also be ground games held for adults and children, vendor booths, a dunking booth, and more.

Funds raised go to presenting the event itself but also to purchase public education supplies to give back to the community.

“Whether that be a coloring book or just a demonstration on how to use a fire extinguisher out in the public; so these things are what we use to put forward that effort and keeping fire down and keeping everybody safe in the community,” said Latrell Billingsley, fire marshal for the Jackson Fire Department.

The stair climb is open to all first responders, military personnel, and members of the community.
