JACKSON, Tenn.-Shocking news about years of embezzlement by a now former employee of the Exchange Club-Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse. Court records show Kimberly Hampton, 40. has pleaded guilty to felony theft. She is serving a nine month jail sentence, followed by nine years of probation. Center officials said Hampton was a long-time employee who worked at the central office. She admitted to stealing $82,000 between 2009 and 2012. Investigators discovered she was able to manipulate the payroll system to add small amounts to her paycheck over and over again. “For years and years and years, we have served child victims and discovering that we were a victim ourselves was very hurtful. It was an individual that we trusted,” said Pam Nash, exec. director of the Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse Nash said due to insurance and restitution from Hampton, all the money was returned to the center. She said most importantly at no point were services to area children and families interrupted.
